PTCS LLC was founded in 1999 by Kim Bates, CPA. Kim's experience stems from her years in the Silicon Valley office of Pricewaterhouse LLP where she was a Multistate Tax Manager. Her experience includes federal, state and local compliance and consulting in the areas of income/franchise, sales and use and payroll taxation.
While at PW, Kim spent several years working on multi-national corporations' federal and multistate income tax returns before focusing on multistate tax issues. That experience coupled with the time spent focusing on state and local issues allows her to bring a unique blend of experience to her clients.
Eric Bates joined PTCS LLC in late 1999, bringing years of management and manufacturing experience to the firm after holding a position as Director of Manufacturing at a Silicon Valley company. His background allowed him to quickly become a valuable resource for clients in documenting their state and federal research and development (R&D) tax credits.
Since that time, Eric has worked with several Fortune 500 companies in industries such as ASIC semiconductor design and manufacturing, networking and network security, computer peripherals, cloud computing (software-as-a-service), vehicular electronic systems (audio/video/navigation) and consumer products. His work encompasses all aspects of the R&D Tax Credit--from initial project scoping and feasibility analysis to delivery of the completed calculation and contemporaneous support documentation. He has helped his clients sustain well over $100 million in claimed credits. Through his work with PSG Tax Credits Group, where he is a founding partner, Eric is also able to extend his extensive R&D Tax Credits knowledge and experience to small- and mid-sized clients with California operations.
